Three steps into the headset
You need a Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S, your phone and about ten minutes. The app shows you the rest.
-
Install
- Create a RunLine account on getrunline.app and sign in.
- In the account overview, tap “Join the public beta”. You get a welcome email with all the links.
- On your phone, open the Meta beta link and accept the beta:
meta.com/s/4OVhes1Si - After a few minutes, RunLine appears in your Quest library. Install the app. If it does not show up, restart the Quest once.
Quest 2 and Quest Pro are not supported, the FAQ explains why. Brand-new headset? The Quest basics get you into the system in a few minutes.
-
Pair
- On your phone or PC, open getrunline.app/pair and sign in with your RunLine account.
- Put on the headset, start RunLine and look briefly at the QR code on the screen. Done.
- If the headset shows a 6-character code instead, type it on the same page.
You never type a password in the headset.

In the headset
On the first start, the app walks you through the basics in about two minutes:
- Put the controllers down. RunLine is operated with your hands only.
- Turn your left palm towards you. That opens the hand menu.
- Tap a course, then Load. With your right index finger.
- Place under Position. Open Position at the bottom of the menu and tap Place. That puts the course in front of you.
- Grab it with both hands. Move and rotate until it fits. 90° left and 90° right under Position turn it by a quarter turn.
- Floor under Position. Pulls the course down to the real floor height.
- Hold Lock briefly. Fixes the course in place.
Slipped? Undo at the bottom right of the menu brings back where the course stood before. Redo puts the step back again.
When it starts, RunLine shows the course you loaded last again, so you do not have to load it every time.
The lifebuoy in the hand menu opens help at any time: restart the tutorial, gesture cheat sheet, demo course and the outdoor routine.
Under Tools, Dog starts a virtual Border Collie that runs your course. How it works is in the dog mode guide.
Optional: your own courses
Link your Smarter Agility account to RunLine and your designs land in the headset automatically. This needs a Pro account at Smarter Agility. Without the link, use the plan import on the web.
You can also select a CRCD4 .agl file there: validate the file, review its preview and warnings, edit the title and choose Accept. Only then is a course created. Refresh the course browser on Quest using the up-to-date app build. No SA account is required. Hoopers files are imported (hoop, gate and barrel). Plans from every rule set are read: AKC and FCI with their own rule set, Hoopers as Hoopers, all other agility rule sets as standard agility. Substitute devices, left-out obstacles, ambiguous numbers and size differences are shown before acceptance.
From the next update, the image import also accepts image exports from Clean Run Course Designer 4 (no photos); the .agl file remains the more accurate way.
